Cowie and Roberts have no pronounced house style. Each commission is designed specifically for the site,client and budget. 

We are willing to take on most commissions, but relish the opportunity to design light, airy, cost effective, eco-friendly modern houses .

We believe that houses in the U.K. need to take as much advantage of the sun as possible, progressively opening out towards the south and creating sheltered outdoor spaces. We think that the interiors of houses should lift the spirits by virtue of their orientation, proportions, etc., and never be a series of uninspired and uninspiring boxes.

We also believe in the careful and creative use of modern structural and cladding materials for their desirable properties of thermal efficiency, low maintenance, speed of erection, and their cost effectiveness. Their beauty, or lack, is down to their detailing.
